Trout fishing on Lake of the Woods is located in the crystal clear water of Whitefish Bay which is the area Indianhead lodge is in. Lake Trout are very predominant in this deep water Bay where they feed on Ciscos which is the main bait fish.Lake of the Woods Lake Trout

LAKE TROUT

In early to mid Spring they are found mostly running shallow. At this time of year most successful method is called shore line fishing. We use Gord Hook with frozen Ciscos.

In the Summer they are in deep cool water in excess of 100 feet. You can jig with a 2 oz Buck tail jig. You vertically let your line out till it hits bottom then you reel up. The Lake Trout hit on your way up closer to the surface.Lake of the Woods Lake Trout
